Frequently Asked Questions

When should I send in my application?
After March 1, 2008. Any applications received that are postmarked before March 1st will be returned to sender. Also, no hand deliveries or group mailings will be accepted. Please fill out one application and one check per camper, per session. For example, please send separate applications and checks for siblings or other groupings (EYC, friends, etc).
Where should I mail my application?

1530 Way Road
Canton, MS 39046
Which Session should I apply for?

What payment is required with my application?
Your full payment is appreciated at the time of applying. At the least, a $100 non-refundable deposit is required. If you must cancel prior to the beginning of your session but have already paid in full, a refund will be sent to you minus the $100 deposit amount.
Can I send in my application/health information only partially filled-out to hold a spot, and then complete it later?
No. Only COMPLETED applications with checks included will be accepted. This includes parental, camper, and Episcopal priest signatures. Incomplete applications will be returned to sender, no exceptions. Why? Imagine trying to gather completed applications, payment checks, health insurance/medical information on 1,000+ children…
When will I know if my camper has been accepted?
Acceptance postcards will be mailed in mid-April. As excited as your camper may be, PLEASE DO NOT call to inquire about your camper’s application until the end of April. We are very busy during this time. If you would like to send an email with other questions or concerns, it will be answered as soon as possible. However, if you have not received any information by May 1st, please call!
How are applications accepted?
Children of any denomination are embraced at Camp Bratton-Green. However, since we are an Episcopal camp, the oldest eligible Episcopalians and Lutherans will be given priority acceptance if received before March 15th. Also during this acceptance period, the oldest repeating year campers will be given priority after Episcopalians and Lutherans. After March 15th, applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Can my camper come to more than one session?
Yes, provided that he or she is not taking another camper’s spot that has not yet attended a session. Therefore, any camper applying for more than one session will be wait-listed for the second session until it may be determined that there is room. If applying for more than one session, please be aware that we may not be able to honor both applications due to availability, and we cannot guarantee your preference of the two sessions. Please indicate which of the two sessions is your first choice. Please remember that each session being applied requires a separate application/payment.
What happens if the session we’re applying for is full?
We will call to let you know that your camper has been wait-listed. Your check will not be deposited unless a spot opens up.
What should my camper bring to camp?
Bedsheets and blanket for single bed, pillow.
Plenty of clothes for entire session(there are no laundry facilities for camper use), and that can get dirty. Please include old shoes and jeans for rainy(and therefore, muddy!) days.
Towels, toiletries, swimsuits.
Fishing equipment, tennis racket, other desired sports equipment.
Many campers also bring a personal fan as cabins are not air-conditioned. Remember an extension cord!
Most importantly, ALL ITEMS should be marked clearly with you camper’s name.
DO NOT BRING:
Clothes you would not wish to be ruined.
Valuable jewelry, electronics, cell phones, iPods, etc.
Illegal drugs/drug paraphenalia, alcohol, cigarrettes, firearms or fireworks.
This is camp. Stuff gets lost and ruined sometimes.
When should I bring my camper on the day the session starts?
Registration is from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on the first day of each session.
Is it okay if I bring my camper early? I have an appointment/massage/White House Dinner/etc I need to get to…
No. No campers will be registered prior to 2:00pm on the first day of camp. Our volunteer staff arrives 1-2 days early to plan the entire session’s fun and surprises. There are many wonderful things in store for your camper and it is extremely helpful if our time and energy can be directed towards planning up until the time when campers are expected, which is at 2:00pm.
Does my camper need to bring any money?
No. There is absolutely no need for any cash money at camp. We ask that you not send money or any personal items of value, such as expensive clothes, jewelry, cell phones, or iPods with your camper. In addition to the risk of them being ruined, lost or “walking off”, there simply is no need for them here. We will not be held responsible for items lost or damaged.
Can I send mail to my camper?
Yes, please do! Please send all Camper Mail to the below address:
Camper's Name
c/o CBG
157 Gray Center Road South
Canton, MS 39046
Note: Please do not send payments or applications to this address, only Camper Mail.
Is smoking, drinking, or other illegal drug use allowed?
NO. Any camper caught with cigarettes, alcohol, or drugs will be sent home immediately, with an additional call being made to their priest. This drug and alcohol policy also applies to both our paid and volunteer staffs.
Are there scholarships available for Camp Sessions?
Yes! Camp Bratton-Green is a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi. It is our hope that anyone who wishes to come to camp, whether for a Regular, Special, First Camp, or Pioneer Session should not be turned away due to lack of funds. Please speak to Sarah in the Camp Office (601-859-1517) to discuss Scholarship qualification requirements.
How can I donate to the CBG Scholarship Fund?
We do not aim for profit when deciding how much to charge for camp. As you’ve read above, we want to help anyone that needs assistance. We not only want to assist campers and their families this summer, but also to ensure that campers five or fifty years from now can live the Camp Bratton-Green Experience. Please consider donating to the CBG Scholarship Fund, or even setting up an annual gift. Please call 601-859-1517 for more information.
